Rare Vintage White (Fender) Lap Steel Guitar with legs and OHSC in excellent condition. Circa 1955 Leo Fender created this brand using the name of his plant manager, Forrest White. Interestingly, Leo actually introduced the White label without first telling Forrest, saving the honor as a surprise. This brand was developed to sell guitars and amps to music schools and other sales outlets without "upsetting" Fender dealers. Cool bit of Fender history, there are not that many around. They only manufactured Whites from 1955-1957. With the exception of a replaced volume potentiometer, this is factory original with no issues. It plays like new. This is a collector's dream, investment grade guitar. The Vintage Guitar Buyer's Guide lists a value of $1200 for very good condition. Their valuations are based on what on an average of recent selling prices. This guitar is in excellent condition. We have seen about a dozen of these in recent years and the condition of this example is about 9 out of 10. These are highly treasured by collectors and those in the know. Strat style single pickup. It's basically a re-branded Champ with legs. Serial # HS11005. (Each model of lap steel has it’s own number series.) This is all in excellent condition. Even the case is in great shape; it even has the original key. You can tell it’s been played, but well cared for. The only issues are slide bar dings. For examples of the sound, you might listen to Steve Howe of YES or David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I'd be happy to visit about which songs or anything else. Please feel free to contact us. About me: I try to acquire, play, and sell only the finest most sought after instruments. I vastly prefer mint or near mint works of gear. I’ve been a collector for over 49 years. Over 650 vintage guitars have passed through my hands. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've had a dozen of this model, and this one stacks up well near the top. Excellent quality and condition. Fantastic looks, early Fender tone !!
