Description

Regal Depression Era Acoustic Lap Steel Guitar Made in Chicago, mid ‘30’s Celluloid Fretboard This one has substantial ladder bracing and had several along the grain cracks and separations between the front, back and sides plus a peghead break. It was re-glued with TBII to far exceed the original bonding available back in the day. Now, it should have a renewed and longer lifetime. Generally, we find a lot of these depression era guitars to be dressed-up lower end instruments. Uniquely cool looking, fun to play, but built to be affordable during a time when money was tight. However, when rebuilt using advanced tech we end up with some great utilitarian retro instruments. The celluloid fretboard looks fancy, but didn’t lend itself well to fingerstyle; thus the slide conversion. With upgraded new tuners and a new case, it’s got good tone, nice features for a retro look and modern reworking that should give it a new lease on a long life.
